Pharmacy Technicians Immunization Training

         

 

Program Overview: 
Due to the global pandemic the department of Health and Human Services has issued guidance for PREP Act Coverage for qualified Pharmacy Technicians and state-authorized Pharmacy Interns for childhood vaccines, COVID-19 vaccines, and COVID-19 testing.  This training has been created to meet the pharmacy technician immunization training required by the AR State Board of Pharmacy.

Please follow up with your states board of Pharmacy to make sure that this ACPE course will count for immunization training.

Learning Objectives:  

  1. Recognize three facts about vaccine safety
  2. Differentiate immunization schedules for individual patients
  3. Identify effective immunization communication strategies
  4. Assess appropriate storage requirements for vaccines
  5. Assess appropriate documentation of immunizations in WebIZ
  6. Demonstrate one IM and one SQ injection

Speaker Bio: Eric Crumbaugh, PharmD graduated from the UAMS College of Pharmacy in May of 2008. He is currently the Director of Clinical Business Development for Express Rx Pharmacy.  Express Rx is a chain of community pharmacies consisting of over 30 locations across 8 states in the southeastern US.  In this role, he assists their pharmacies in incorporating clinical practices into daily workflow to improve patients’ outcomes and better manage disease states such as diabetes.

 In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Pharmacist Association. University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

ACPE Designation Statement 

These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists up to 3 contact hours or 0.3 CEU. CE credit information, based on verification of attendance and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion.
